DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania, Sept 24 – Hosts Tanzania will be more than hungry to retain the Zonal U-20 AFCON qualifier title when they face Sudan in the final on Thursday afternoon.
After seeing off Burundi 2-0 at the semi-final stage, the Ngorongoro Boys are hungry to go all out and retain the title in-front of their fans at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es salaam.
Mario Rivera Campesino, the Tanzania U-20 coach told Talksports Africa that they are more than determined to maintain the 100% winning run in the tournament.
“I am happy that the team has played well, won all three matches and conceded no goal. Now is the final and we must work hard to win,” added Campesino, also assistant coach of the national senior team, Taifa Stars.
But the Sudan U-20 coach Salaheldin Ahmed Nuoreldin Ahmed has also made it clear that it will not be a push over facing them.
“We are very happy to qualify for the 2027 AFCON U-20. But we are still very determined to fight and win the Cup because it will mean a lot for us in Sudan,” added the coach.
In the last four years Uganda and Tanzania have lifted the U-20 Zonal trophy twice each, and the Ngorongoro Boys are now chasing their third in recent times.
