KENYA, Nairobi – The President of Kenya, William Ruto has promised the national team, Harambee Stars cash rewards if they perform well in the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda co-host the tournament meant for players featuring for the teams in their respective countries from August 2-30th.
Ruto met the Kenyan team on Saturday morning at the Pullman Hotel in Nairobi and promised US$7,186,000 (Ksh600 million) if they win the CHAN 2024 title.
The President of Kenya who called on all Kenyan to come and support the national team also made it clear that every player will receive US$11.978 (Kshs1 million) for every win and US$5,988 (500,000Kshs) for every draw
“Guys, it cannot get better than this. We have tripled the rewards so that everyone does their best,” he said.
Kenya will kick start their Group B campaign with a match against two time champions DR Congo on Sunday at the 60,000-seater Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.
Meanwhile, the CHAN 2024 kicks off on Saturday night with Tanzania hosting Burkina Faso in a Group C tie at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic
Group C: Uganda, Niger, Guinea, Algeria, South Africa
Group D: Senegal, Congo Brazzaville, Sudan, Nigeria
