The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Morocco have registered second straight wins in the respective groups in the on-going TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 qualifiers.
Nigeria humiliated Sao Tome and Principe 10-0, while Morocco stopped Liberia 2-0 in matches played on Monday.
Sierra Leone also came from two goals down to settled for a 2-2 draw against 10-man Guinea Bissau.
Striker Victor Osimhen scored four goals as Nigeria re-wrote history in the AFCON qualifiers in the Group A match played in Gtande Stade d’Agadir in Morocco.
Terem Moffi also netted a brace, while skipper Moses Simon, Oghenekaro Etebo, Ademola Lookman and Emmanuel Dennis also got their names on the score sheet.
The win keeps Nigeria top of Group A after they started the campaign with a win against Sierra Leone.
In the second Group A match played in Conakry, Guinea, the Wild Dogs of Sierra Leone came from two goals down to hold Guinea Bissau to a 2-2 draw.
Jorge Fernando Barbosa Intima, popularly know as Jorginho netted twice for Guinea Bissau in the first half.
In the second half Guinea Bissau’s Sana Gomes was sent off after 55 minutes. Sierra leone pushed forward to score through Augustus Kargbo and Musa Noah Kamara. While Nigeria lead the Group with six points, Guinea Bissau are second on four points, while Sierra leone have a point and Sao Tome and Principle have no point.
In Group K, Liberia conceded lost 2-0 to Morocco. The Liberia team that hosted the match in Casablanca because they have no approved stadiums fel to goal from Faycal Fajr and Youssef En-Nesyri scoring in Casablanca.
