Team Kenya dominated the 22nd Africa Senior Athletics Championships which climaxed on Sunday in Reduit, Mauritius.
The Kenyan team which returned home on Monday won 10 gold medals, 5 silvers and 8 bronze to register a total of 23 medals.
Ferdinand Omanyala who won gold in the 100m and the relay said he was happy with his performance. “I am happy with my performance and the team,” said Omanyala.
South Africa who finished second had more total medals (36) than Kenya, but had 9 gold medals which pushed them down the raking order.
Nigeria finished in third position with a total of 11 medals, While Algeria and Ethiopia were fourth and fifth respectively.
The other teams that made it to the medals table included; Botswana, Burundi, Zambia, Senegal, Niger, Gambia, Ghana, Benin, Cameroon, Egypt. Morocco, Tunisia, Gabon, Mauritius, Liberia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Bronze: Caroline Nyaga (5,000m), Abraham Longosiwa (10,000m), Geoffrey Kirwa (3,000m steeplechase), Veronica Mutua (400m), 4x400m relay women, Sylvia Kemboi (20km race walk), Wiseman Were (400m hurdles), Caren Chebet (3,000m steeplechase)
