CairoSouth African Coach Pitso Mosimane has left Egyptian giants Al Ahly with immediate effect.
The Club announced on Monday that the coach asked to step down, and the executive committee decided to approve his request.
The development comes few weeks after Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca beat Al Ahly in the 2021/2022 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League final.
“Al Ahly and Pitso Mosimane reached an agreement to part ways,” said the communication released by the Club today.
The Club said during a Club meeting chaired by the President, Mahmoud El Khatib and other members they discussed Mosimane’s future with the Club. That during the meeting the members decided that Mosimane continues with his mission to lead the club as a result of the achievements he managed to accomplish during the previous period.
“However, during the meeting that was previously held, Mosimane requested to leave and that he is satisfied with the achievement he managed to accomplish with the Club,” added the communication.
The meeting later discussed and agreed to part ways with Mosimane and thanked him for the achievements that he accomplished with the club.
Since he joined Al Ahly two years ago, Mosimane won the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League twice and also won the same Cup with South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016.
