KAMPALA, Jan. 18. – Uganda’s long distance star runner Jacob Kiplimo has said he is doubtful of competing in the 2024 World Cross Country Championship in Belgrade, Serbia.

Fresh from winning the 10km Road Race in Valencia last weekend, Kiplimo says he is focusing a lot on the Paris Olympics 2024.

Kiplimo says he is still doubtful about competing in Serbia as his primary goal this year is the Olympic Games. “I would like to win the double gold in the 5000m and 10,000m, ” says Kiplimo.

At the 2022 Olympics Kiplimo won Gold in the 5,000m race, but won a double at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

” I am very happy that I started the season with a win in Valencia and I have to keep working hard and preparing well because I have set my target high. I know there will be a lot of competition because every top athlete wants to win gold at the Olympics, ” added Kiplimo.

In his quest to win a double gold at the Paris Olympics, Kiplimo will however face stiff challenges from the seasoned Kenyan and Ethiopian top athletes. He will also face a tough challenge from fellow Uganda Joshua Cheptegei, the current world record holder for the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres, and holds the world best time over the 15 kilometres distance.
