Lobalu shocks Uganda’s Kiplimo in Stockholm leg of Wanda Diamond League

Domnic Loninyomo Lobalu was in good form to win the 3000m race at the Stockholm leg of the 2022 Wanda Diamond League on Thursday.

The 23-year old South Sudanese who now runs for the Athlete Refugee Team shocked Uganda’s star runner Jacob Kiplimo who came in second place.

Lobalu recorded a Personal Best time of 7:29.48, while the Olympic 10,000m bronze medalist had 7:29.55 in the race held at the Bauhaus-Galan in Olympiastadion, Stockholm.

Kenya’s Cornelius Kemboi came in third place, while Stewart Mcsweyn (Australia) was fourth, and Burundi’s Thierry Ndikumwenayo made it in fifth place.

In the other races South Africa’s Vander Walt Zeney came top in the 400m hurdles (men) in a Personal Best time of 54.99. He beat another South African Bieidt Taylon to second place.

Algeria’s Moula Slimane won the 800m race (women’s) with a time of 1:44.60, while Uganda’s Winnie Nanyondo came scond in the 1500m race won by Australia’s Hall Linden.
