Uganda’s Chemonges, Kibet set for Daegu International Marathon in South Korea

KAMPALA, Feb 21. – Runners Leonard Chemonges and Isaac Kibet will represent Uganda at the Daegu International Marathon 2025 in South Korea.

The World Athletics Gold Label race which will attract top athletes from around the world will take place on February 23rd, 2025 in Daegu.

Dominic Otuchet, President of UAF confirmed the development to TalksportsAfrica on Friday.

“We are expecting very good results because we also sent two pace setters Nathan Ayeiko and Victor Kiptoo to help set pace for the two runners,” added Otuchet.

 

The Ugandan duo will face tough competition from the likes of Tanzania’s Gebriel Gerald Gay, last year’s champion Stephen Kiprop from Kenya, and Ethiopia’s Adisu Gobena, who won the Dubai Marathon in 2024.

This year’s Daegu International Marathon that will attract 158 local runners from South Korea and 62 foreign runners has prize money worth $160,000.
