JERUSALEM, March 1. – Kenya’s Felix Kimutai and Teresiah Omosa won the men and women’s categories of the Tel Aviv Marathon in Israel.
Kimatai clocked in 2 hours, 12 minutes and 13 seconds. Other Kenya runners Vincent Kipsang Rono and Vincent Kipyegon Ronoh finished second and third in 2:12:18 and 2:12:26, respectively.
Kimatai fell short of breaking the course record set in 2023 by fellow countryman Mibei Dominic Kipngeno,
In the women’s category Omosa came out top with a time of 2:37:38, followed by her compatriot Jerubat Perez (2:38:48) and Evgeniia Indina of Russia (2:42:04).
Kimutai and Omosa each won a prize of 7,500 U.S. dollars.
Israel’s Maru Teferi, the men’s marathon silver medalist at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, won the half marathon in Tel Aviv in 1:02:21. His compatriot Maor Tiyouri finished first in the women’s event.
Around 45,000 athletes participated in the event, which also included 10km, 5km, 3km, hand cycle, and children’s races
