Morocco has not accomplished anything yet – Coach Regragui

Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui has said they have not yet accomplished anything yet after picking four points from their first two Group F matches at the on-going FIFA World Cup 2022.

After opening their campaign with a goalless draw against 2018 runners up Croatia, the Atlas Lions came all out to beat Belgium 2-0 in a match played on Sunday. Abdelhamid Sabiri and Zakaria Aboukhlal netted two second half goals.

Morocco who are second in the Group F behind Croatia will face Canada in their last Group match on December 1st.

“Against Belgium, the players ran too much, put in a lot of effort. But we haven’t accomplished anything yet. We must keep focused,” said the Morocco head coach.

He emphasized that the Atlas Lions still have to show efficiency and effort during the last group match. “We want to continue getting better and better in every match,” says the coach who has only been with the team for three months.

The coach also made it clear that they will assess injuries to to some of the players like  Yassine Bounounou, Achraf Hakimi and start player even Hakim Ziyech.

Today two African team will be in action with Cameroon facing Serbia in the first match, before Ghana take on South Korea. The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon lost 1-0 to Switzerland in their opening Group G match, while Ghana suffered a 3-2 defeat to Portugal in their Group H opener.
