Tanzania’s Premier League reigning champions, Young Africans SC have broken the record of unbeaten runs in the League.
Young Africans SC’s unbeaten record in the League ended yesterday when they lost 2-1 away to Ihefu FC in a match played in Mbeya. But the Young Africans team still keep the best record of 49 matches unbeaten.
Yannick Bangala gave Young Africans the lead early in the first half. Never Tigere leveled for the home side later in the first half, and Lenny Kissu netted the winning goal for Ihefu FC.
While the struggling Ihefu FC side moved from bottom of the log to 13th place with 11 points from 14 matches played, Young Africans SC maintain top position with 32 points from 13 matches played.
“We are proud of the record that we have set as a Club and the achievements we have managed to achieve since the run started last year,” said the Club President Eng. Hersi Said.
The Club President made it clear that they will keep aiming high for more silverware at both local and international levels. “We thank everyone who has played a role including the players, fans and management in ensuring that we break the unbeaten record which puts us top in Tanzania and among the top in Africa,” added the Young Africans SC President.
Young Africans Sc have broken the unbeaten record in Tanzania under the watchful eyes of coach Nasreddine Nabi and his assistant Cedric Kaze.
In Africa Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas hold the the longest unbeaten record of 108 matches, with Esperance de Tunis (Tunisia) in second place at 85 matches. Rwanda’s APR are in third place with 50 matches and Young Africans SC moved to 4th place with 49 matches.
