Three African teams South Africa, Kenya and Uganda are set to prove a point when the 2022 Emirates Dubai 7s takes centre stage December 2-3 in the United Arab Emirates.
The event, a World HSBC 7s tournament will take place December 2-3, 2022 in the United Arab Emirates.
For starters the South Africa’s Springbok will be out to try and defend the title they won last year. Sandile Ngcobo, the South African 7’s coach made it clear that they are ware it will not be an easy task, but added that the team has prepared well.
“Our pool is a tough one. Kenya is always a very physical African derby, Great Britain beat us in Hong Kong and Australia just continued with their great form to won their first title in Hong Kong.
He made it clear that they are getting back to their feet after being knocked down in Hong Kong. “So will have to make sure we trust the system and stick to our processes in order to be successful,” he added.
Kenya’s head coach Damian McGrath has also made it clear that they will have to take every match seriously. “We have not had a very good season, but we must prove a point in Dubai,” he added.
The Uganda Rugby Cranes, who held New Zealand to a draw at the Commonwealth Games this year are placed in Group C alongside France, Ireland and Spain in Group C. Uganda’s head coach Tolbert Onyango has made it clear that they will be out to try and register their best performance in Dubai.
“We have a determined team which has gained a lot of exposure playing in the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games this year. We should be able to perform well in Dubai,” added Onyango.
The Emirates Dubai 7s returns to the United Arab Emirates following a successful 2021 season.

Group C: France, Ireland, Spain, Uganda
Group D: Samoa, USA, Canada, Japan
