KIGALI, Rwanda, Ang. 31. – The defending champions Tanzania have been drawn against Ethiopia and Rwanda in the Zonal qualifiers for the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2026.
The draw featuring nine teams was conducted at the Kigali Pele Stadium on Monday in Rwanda.
Tanzania who lifted the title in 2024 have been placed in Group A ahead of the qualifiers that will run September 15-25th at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The draw conducted by the Competitions Manager of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) also placed Uganda alongside Sudan and Djibouti in Group B.
Group C will have South Sudan placed alongside Kenya and Burundi. Uganda’s U-20 team already embarked on preparations a week ago.
The best two teams at the Zonal qualifier will represent the CECAFA Zone at the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2026.
Group A: Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda
Group B: Uganda, Sudan, Djibouti
Group C: South Sudan, Kenya, Burundi
