East African Cricket teams of Kenya and Uganda have suffered defeats in their second matches at the on-going ICC Cricket Challenge League B tournament in Kampala, Uganda.
Kenya who beat Bermuda last weekend in their opening match found the going tough this morning losing to Jersey.
Jersey defeated Kenya by 96 runs in a match played at the Lugogo Cricket Oval. Nick Greenwood with 66 runs and Josh Lawrenson with 55 let Jersey to put on 278. The Kenyan team led by in-form Rakep Patel (86 runs) later chased, collapsed at 179/41.
At the Kyambogo Cricket Oval Uganda Cricket Cranes miserably fell by 6 wickets to Hong Kong.
Uganda batted first to put on 94/10 in only 33.2 runs. Hong Kong made an easy chase by picking 96/4 to win by 6 wickets.
Nizakat Khan and Adit Gorawara picked 24 and 22 runs respectively. Kinchit D. Shah added another 15 runs, while Babar Hayat had 13 runs.
“It hurts the way we lost against Hong Kong and we need to get back and try to win the remaining matches,” said Uganda’s coach Lawrence Mahatlane after the match. Uganda started their campaign with a loss to Jersey few days ago.
On Tuesday Uganda will return to action against Bermuda, while Jersey take on Italy.
The best team after three rounds will move to the next round of qualifiers for next year’s 50 over World Cup.
