KAMPALA, Feb 10. – Uganda Cricket Cranes have defeated Singapore by 8 wickets at the second leg of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup Challenge League B qualifiers in Hong Kong-China.
Singapore batted first to put on 243/9 in the allotted 50 overs at the Kowloon Cricket Club, Kowloon. After a break Uganda chased to pick 245/2 in 40.4 overs with 56 balls to spare.
Uganda’s Raghav Dhawan who was voted man of the match picked a game high 71 runs. The other Ugandan players who collected double figures include; Alpesh Ramjani (67), Shrideep Mangela (48) and Robinson Obuya (25).
Singapore’s duo of Aman Desai and Ishaan Sawney collected 66 runs and 64 runs respectively.
“We are very happy to record our second straight win. We shall continue to work hard in the remaining three matches,” said Uganda’s captain Riazat Ali Shah.
In the second match played on Monday Bahrain defeated Tanzania by 6 wickets. Bharain batted first to put on 140/4 (34.1 overs), while Tanzania chased and collapsed at 139 (41.2 overs).
After stopping Bharain few days ago and now Singapore, Uganda continues to lead the log with 13 points from seven matches played, while Italy and Hong Kong-China each have 11 points. Bharain have 7 points, while Singapore and Tanzania each have 1 point a piece.
