Uganda beat Bermuda to reclaim top spot

Uganda Cricket Cranes have reclaimed top position in the ICC Cricket Challenge League B tournament after picking a win against Bermuda on Tuesday.

The Cricket Cranes recovered from two earlier defeats to beat Bermuda by 8 wickets at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Bermuda elected to bat first and put on 95/28.5. The Uganda Cricket Cranes chased to put on 99/2 and eventually win by 8 wickets.

Simon Ssesazi was in good form hitting 50 runs for Uganda , while Ronak Otwani and Kenneth Waiswa both picked 19 runs each.

Bermuda’s Dalin Richardson top scored for his team with 15 runs. “We are happy to bounce back and win a match. We now need to concentrate and try to win the remaining two matches,” said Uganda’s Ssesazi.

The Uganda Cricket Cranes lost their opening match few days ago to Jersey, before falling to Hong Kong on Monday.

In the second match played at the Kyambogo Cricket Oval Jersey beat Italy by 88 runs.

Josh Lawrenson led Jersey with 102 runs as they put on 223/9, while Italy chased and collapsed at 135/37.

Uganda are now top of the long with 12 points from eight matches played, while Hong Kong who have showed good form in this second round on-going in Uganda have played seven matches and have 11 points. Jersey are in third place with 10 points.

The ICC Cricket Challenge League B is also a qualification pathway for associates to next year’s 50 over World Cup. The best team after three rounds will move to the next round of qualifiers.
