Experienced Brian Masaba will captain Uganda during the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B tournament to take place next month.
Approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the tournament to attract six nations will take place between June 14-28th in Kampala.
Head coach Lawrence Mahatlane told TalkAfricaSports that he will maintain Masaba as the captain. “He has the experience and has the qualities to lead the team,” added the coach.
“ I have named a strong team that continues to prepare well for this tournament. We are hosting this tournament and we have a good chance,” added the head coach.
The ICC Cricket Challenge League B is a qualification pathway for associates to next year’s 50 over World Cup.
The Challenge League B is played over three rounds with the top side after the three rounds moving on to the next round of qualifiers. Uganda won the first round of the Challenge League B hosted by Oman in 2019.
The six nations in Group B that will take part include; Uganda, Hong Kong, Jersey, Bermuda, Italy and Kenya.
Uganda was meant to host the international tournament early this year, but it was postponed due to the Omicron outbreak.
