Hosts Uganda will open their ICC Challenge League B tournament campaign with a match against Jersey on Friday at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The home team will be all out to try and make a winning start before facing the remaining four teams.
Lawrence Mahatlane, the Uganda Cricket Cranes head coach made it clear that it will be very important to start well in the tournament because it will give the team good momentum.
“We have prepared well and the players are well motivated and ready to start on a good note. We cannot take any team here for granted and it will be a very competitive tournament,” added Mahatlane.
Action at the Lugogo Cricket Oval and Kyambogo grounds will take place from June 17-27th.
On Saturday Hong Kong will face Italy in the first match, while Kenya battle Bermuda in the second match.
There are six nations in Group B including Uganda, Hong Kong, Jersey, Bermuda, Italy and Kenya.
ICC Challenge League B is a qualification pathway for associates to the 2023 50 over World Cup. The Challenge League B is played over three rounds with the top side after the three rounds moving on to the next round of qualifiers.
The 1st round of the Challenge League B was hosted by Oman in 2019. Uganda came out victors after winning five out of five and now sit three points ahead of Hong Kong at the top of the table.
While Uganda hosts the second round, the third and final round will be hosted by Jersey from July 28th to August 10th.
