DAR ES SALAAM, Feb 7. – Tanzanian Malaika Meena has signed for Barclays Women’s Championship side, Bristol City Women FC.
The midfielder few days ago signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the option of a further year.
“I am happy that I have joined Bristol City. “I’m very excited to sign for Bristol City, especially with the ambition of this club, fighting for promotion,” she said.
The midfielder came through the academy systems at both Arsenal and then Chelsea before signing for Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
She spent three and a half years in the USA before returning to England to sign for the Robins.
Michelle Yeowell, Head of Player Recruitment, added: “We’re delighted to bring Malaika to the club. She’s an exciting young player with lots of potential and we’re excited for her to grow with us.”
Meena has also been invited by the national coach of Tanzania as part of the squad expected to start preparations ahead of a first round clash in the TotalEergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 qualifiers against Equatorial Guinea.
