Uganda battle Namibia as Pearl of Africa Cricket T20 Series start

KAMPALA, Uganda – Uganda Cricket Cranes will open their Pearl of Africa Cricket T20 Series with a match against Namibia on Thursday morning at the lakeside Entebbe Cricket Oval.

Juma Miyagi, Uganda’s new captain in the absence of injured Riazat Ali Shah has made it clear that the opening match will be very important.

“We call upon all Cricket loving Ugandans to come in big numbers and give us the support. We need to play with lots of focus and game plan,” added Miyagi.

The second match on the same day will see Kenya face Nigeria’s Yellow Greens. Sylvester Okpe, Nigeria’s captain has warned that they are here for serious business and will take every match seriously.

“We are here to prove a point that we are a good team. We shall treat every match like a final,” said Okpe.

The Nigerian team handled by former Kenyan International Steve Tikolo also boosts seasoned talents like Peter Aho and Solomon Chilemanya.

Five teams Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, Namibia and United Arab Emirates are featuring in the Pearl of Africa Cricket T20 Series organized by the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA).

The Series that climax on July 27th will also serve as preparation ahead of the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup Qualifier in September.
