Nigerian star striker Asisat Oshoala has been ruled out of the remaining matches at the on-going TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) due to injury.
The striker who featured in Nigeria’s opening Group C match that they lost 2-1 to South Africa is expected to fly back to her base in Spain on Thursday to start treatment.
“She sustained a Grade 2 Medial Collateral Ligament strain in the game against South Africa. She is due back in Spain on Thursday. Get well quick Asisat,” said a communication by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The Falcons will now play their second match on Thursday against table leaders Botswana without the Barcelona Women’s team star. Botswana lead the Group after their 4-2 win against Burundi.
The same day South Africa will take on Burundi at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat.
