Uganda Crested Cranes and Burkina Faso are the first teams to be knocked out at the on-going TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2022 in Morocco.
The two teams settled for a 2-2 draw in a Group A match played at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca yesterday. The draw meant that the two teams finished with a point each after losing their earlier two matches.
Margret Kunihira and Sandra Nabweteme netted the for the Crested Cranes, while the battle hardened Burkina Faso team with defender Madinatou Rouamba sent off scored through Naomie Kabre and Adama Congo.
Morocco stopped Senegal in the second Group A match played in Rabat, although the two teams all qualified for the quarter final stage.
The draw by Uganda and Burkina Faso means that Cameroon who face Tunisia in a Group B match today also made it to the knock out stage.
The other teams that have already booked places in the knock out stage include Zambia, South Africa and Tunisia.
The WAFCOn which attracted 12 teams will climax on July 23rd with the final.
