The President of the world football governing body, FIFA has congratulated newly elected President of the Somali Football Federation (SFF), Ali Abdi Mohamed.
Thirty four delegates elected Ali Abdi Mohamed unopposed on February 22nd, 2023 during the General Assembly held at Elite Hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia.
“Please accept my warmest greetings and sincerest congratulations for your recent election as President of the Somali Football Federation,” said a communication from FIFA dated March 3,2023 and signed by the President Gianni Infantino.
“Your knowledge and leadership, your passion and experience will undoubtedly have an important impact on the development of our beautiful game in Somalia. Convinced of the potential of Football in the country, you can count on my personal support and the help of FIFA to achieve this goal. The doors of the Home of FIFA are always open if you wish to discuss our sport, it’s development and the promotion of it’s values,” added the communication from FIFA.
Ali Abdi Mohamed said he is happy to receive a letter of congratulations from the FIFA President. “We are now determined to work and change the face of football in Somalia,” added the SFF President. The new elected SFF President, his Vice President and General Secretary are expected to attend the FIFA Congress in Kigali, Rwanda on March 16th, 2023.
