Women’s world 53rd player Viana Veira enters Uganda International Badminton Challenge 2025

KAMPALA, Feb 8. – The Uganda International Badminton Challenge 2025 is slated to take place February 19-23 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala.

Simon Mugabi, Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) told Talkaposrtsafrica.com on Saturday that several top players from around the world have entered the event.

“We shall have players coming from over 25 countries including the women’s world number 53 Juliana Viana Veira from Brazil who will be the top seed in the women’s singles,” explained Mugabi.

Uganda’s top female players Fadilah Shamika Mohamed Rafi and Husina Kobugabe ranked 116 and 196 in the world respectively will be expected to put up a good show as well.

In the men’s singles Azebaijan’s Dwicahyo Ade Resky, ranked 66th in the world men’s singles and Dmitriy Panarin from Kazakhstan ranked 76th have all registered to take part.

Mugabi made it clear that the other players who have entered the Challenge will come from; Canada, Malaysia, Brazil, UAE, India, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Poland, England, Madives, Iran and USA among others.
